Join the 2024 William L. Thompson Curatorial Fellows for a live Presentation
On December 12, 2024, join the 2024 Thompson Curatorial Fellows for a live webinar.
The 2024 class of William L. Thompson Collections Fellowship recipients will present their individual research projects undertaken during their week at Edgewater. The projects focused on some aspect of the RHJF collection of Fine and Decorative Arts and reflect Mr. Jenrette’s desire that our houses and collection would be used as learning laboratories to help train the next generation of curators and museum professionals.
There is no cost, but you will need to Register Here to join the webinar live. The presentation will be posted to our YouTube channel for those who are unable to attend live.
Dr. Astrid Tvetenstrand was able to determine that a painting in our collection depicting the Hudson River at West Point was the work of French artist Victor de Grailly, ca. 1850, and copied from a known print.
Matthew Monk examined Bill Thompson’s fabric archive and his design work including original needlepoint designs.
Hailey Chomos focused on Edgewater’s Drawing Room as a public space and the evolution of its furnishings over the past two centuries.
Emily Whitted examined the original linen and horsehair cushions and surviving upholstery fragments associated with the ca. 1826 Duncan Phyfe window seats used at Edgewater by Robert Donaldson.
